ADMIRAL FARMHOUSE

Located on a peninsula bordering Puget Sound and minutes from downtown, West Seattle was an independent city before its annexation into Seattle in 1902. Its settlement pattern and commercial districts have been shaped by a succession of transportation modes, first by ferries, then by streetcars, and finally by bridges and roadways. The historic preservation society defines this house as a Cape Cod, originating in New England in the 17th century, the simple symmetrical design was constructed of local materials to withstand the stormy weather of Cape. The houses are simple and utilitarian, unfussy in both their presentation and livability.

Our role was was to remodel the existing kitchen and bath, create an addition that included a primary suite, and two bedrooms, refresh the house throughout and furnish it comfortable for a family of four. For all of the permanent features we took cues from the existing architecture, and then layered on an eclectic mix of furnishings well suited to our clients lifestyle and reflective of their busy family and interests.
